AIA Minnesota is pleased to announce the latest recipients of two annual residential architecture awards.

2018 Architect of Distinction: Eric Odor, AIA

Eric Odor, AIA, LEED AP, is currently a managing partner at SALA Architects. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English before pursing an architecture degree from the University of Minnesota. Outside of his work on residential projects, Odor has experience in commercial, corporate and institutional arenas in Minnesota, Michigan and California. His work has been featured frequently in the Star Tribune’s “Home of the Month” series and has been awarded RAVE awards.

The jury felt Odor’s residential designs demonstrated his ability to work nimbly in a variety of architectural styles, expertly exhibiting a touch of whimsy when called for. They applauded Odor’s “super creative way of creating space with well-executed details.”

2018 Emerging Talent of the Year: Jackie Millea, AIA

After more than 15 years of interior design practice, Jackie Millea, AIA, earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota and is a founding principal of the Minneapolis firm Shelter Architecture. In her design work, Millea is passionate about pursing a greater understanding of how design can better our wellness and overall health, relationships and communities. She has become a leader in accessible design and strives to ensure that homes are designed to work for all ages and abilities.

In reviewing Jackie’s portfolio, jurors remarked that her commitment to accessible design comes through clearly and consistently in her body of work. They remarked that her designs “show great stylistic breadth and range, characterized by a crisp, clean and straightforward style.”

The jury for both awards included Christine Albertsson, AIA, Albertsson Hansen Architecture; Jody McGuire, AIA, SALA Architects; Jacob Mans, University of Minnesota School of Architecture; and Chris Lee, editor with Midwest Home.

Odor and Millea will be recognized in the April/May 2018 issue of Midwest Home magazine and at an event hosted by the magazine at Martha O’Hara Interiors on April 4 at 6:00 pm.
