Meet the AIA Minnesota Staff
Amber Allardyce joined the AIA Minnesota in July 2001 as the Membership Director. She is responsible for the AIA Minnesota membership database, managing convention registrations, editing the Project Announcement Newsletter (PAN) and coordinating the Firm Directory. She is the assistant to the EVP and the staff liaison for the Emerging Professionals Committee and the Membership Committee at the state level, AIA Minneapolis Urban Design Committee, and the AIA Northern Minnesota Chapter. Amber earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
Deanna Christiansen joined the AIA Minnesota staff in January 1988. As Continuing Education Director, she is primarily responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of AIA Minnesota’s monthly continuing education seminars, the annual Lake Superior Design Retreat, and the nearly 50 programs at AIA Minnesota’s state Convention. Deanna is the staff liaison to the Small Firms Committee and works with the Intern Development Program Committee and provides administrative assistance for the ARE review seminars and ARE lending library provided by AIA Minnesota.
Emily Dowd is AIA Minnesota’s Program Coordinator and liason for the Awards Committee. She helps organize the award juries and several major events concerning awards. Emily is also Assistant Editor of Architecture Minnesota magazine, coordinating the photography for feature articles. In addition, she has recently begun representing AIA Minnesota on Mayor R.T. Rybak’s Great City Design Team.
Beverly Hauschild-Baron, Hon. AIA, AIA Minnesota Executive Vice President, is responsible for managing AIA Minnesota, its three chapters and the Minnesota Architectural Foundation. She is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan and for managing the annual operating budget. In addition to leading the staff of 10 she connects AIA Minnesota to the community and allied organizations and is publisher of Architecture Minnesota magazine. She provides leadership to the Government Affairs Committee, is a registered lobbyist and is manager of the AIA Minnesota Convention. Beverly has a degree in geography from the University of Minnesota.
Christopher Hudson joined the AIA Minnesota staff in September 2004. As editor of Architecture Minnesota magazine, he is responsible for planning, developing, and editing all magazine content; teaming with the art director to ensure editorial and graphic design are working in tandem; and gathering input from AIA Minnesota staff and members on how the magazine might better fulfill its mission. Chris has a B.A. in English from Loyola University-Chicago and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Indiana University.
Jennifer Gilhoi is the Communications Director for AIA Minnesota. She is the editor of the monthly e-newsletter, Matrix, manager of web content, and handles public relations, advertising and marketing for the component. Jennifer is the staff liaison for the Residential Architects Committee, which runs several events and juried awards programs with local publications; and the Public Awareness Committee, which leads initiatives related to branding, public relations and advertising. She is a University of St. Thomas alumni with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Management and a Journalism minor.
Micki Kastel joined the AIA staff in September 2006. As an Office Coordinator, Micki is responsible for the general office management and everyday flow of office communications. As well, Micki manages the sales and distribution of AIA Contract Documents, is the Circulation Manager for Architecture Minnesota magazine and the Staff Liaison for the following committees: Housing Advocacy/Search for Shelter and Building Codes. She also coordinates the Minneapolis Chapter Luncheons. Micki earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Graphic Design minor, from St. Cloud State University.
Stephanie Pelzer began as Exhibit Sales Coordinator for AIA Minnesota in April 2008. Her duties include selling over 250 exhibit spaces and communicating with exhibitors regarding the annual AIA MN Convention and Product Expo. She also coordinates the AIA Minneapolis Golf Outing that takes place every year in July. As Recording Secretary for the Minnesota Architectural Foundation, Stephanie tracks donations, sends out mailings and helps direct the Rapson Traveling Study Fellowship. She also serves as Staff Liaison for Architecture in the Schools and Committee on the Environment. Stephanie received her degree in Architecture, Design and Advertising from the University of Minnesota.
Tom C. Moua joined AIA Minnesota staff in April 1, 1997as Accountant. He also handles HR functions and prepares reports for the AIA Minnesota Finance Committee, Minnesota Architectural Foundation, Minnesota Architects Political Action Committee, Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board, and the Minnesota Design Team. Tom came to the United States in April 1980 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from National College and received his Master of Science in Accounting from Cardinal Stritch College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin in November 1995.
Judith Van Dyne has been Advertising Sales Director of the award-winning Architecture Minnesota Magazine for the past 24 years. Staff liaison to AIA Saint Paul, Historic Resources Committee and for 15 years the liaison to the Minnesota Design Team, a group of volunteer professionals who work with rural Minnesota communities (almost 100 since 1983). She has a B.A. from the University of Minnesota in Art History and Spanish.
