AIA Minnesota Announces 2004 Honor and Divine Detail Awards
The AIA Minnesota Honor Awards program serves as a tribute to architectural excellence
by recognizing outstanding buildings, clients and architects and informing the
public of their contributions. During the AIA Minnesota 70th Annual Convention
and Exhibition, held in November, the 2004 Awards jury, comprised of three nationally
recognized architects from out-of-state firms, convened to review the 110 Honor
Award and nine Divine Detail entries to the competition. The jurors were:
Jeanne Gang, AIA, Principal, Studio Gang Architects, Chicago, IL
James Stewart Polshek, FAIA, Partner, Polshek Partnership Architects, New York, NY
Ron Radziner, AIA, Design Principal, Marmol Radziner + Associates, Los Angeles, CA.
Honor Awards were submitted in five categories: architecture, housing, interiors, restoration/renovation,
and urban design/master planning. The jury selected ten projects to receive Honor Awards and one for a Divine Detail
Award. The awards were officially presented to the recipients at the 2004 Awards Celebration on Saturday,
November 20, at International Market Square in Minneapolis. Other AIA Minnesota awards presented that evening
included: Young Architects Award, Special Award,
25-Year Award and the Gold Medal Award, given to Victor C. Gilbertson, FAIA.

Divine Detail Award
The Divine Detail
Awards were established to recognize elements of building design where
the expression of materials, technologies and craft bond with the process
of invention and construction. Projects in this category illustrate the
governing design concept of the building, recognizing the importance of the
detail to the realization of the whole. The 2004 Divine Detail winner is:
