AIA Minnesota Announces 2005 Honor and Divine Detail Awards
The AIA Minnesota Honor Awards program serves as a tribute to architectural excellence by recognizing outstanding buildings, clients and architects and informing the public of their contributions. During the AIA Minnesota 71st Annual Convention and Exhibition, held in November, the 2005 Awards jury, comprised of three nationally recognized architects from out-of-state firms, convened to review the 122 entries to the competition. The jurors were:
Kirk V. Blunck, FAIA, P rincipal-in-Charge, Herbert Lewis Kruse Blunck, Des Moines, Iowa; Lawrence Scarpa, AIA, Principal, Pugh + Scarpa, Santa Monica, California; Karen Van Lengen, AIA, Dean of the School of Architecture, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Honor Awards were submitted in five categories: architecture, housing, interiors, restoration/renovation, and urban design/master planning. The jury selected 13 projects to receive Honor Awards and one for a Divine Detail Award. The awards were officially presented to the recipients at the 2005 Awards Celebration on Friday, December 2, at the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis. Other AIA Minnesota awards presented that evening included: Young Architects Award, Special Awards, 25-Year Award and the Firm Award, given to SALA Architects Inc.
