Small Firm Practice                               Return to Committees Page

The Small Firms Committee is a forum for small architecture firm members to discuss common issues and to learn more about subjects unique to small practices. It provides a place to exchange ideas, concerns, successes, failures, resources and more with peers. Recent meeting subjects have ranged from joint venturing and staffing to residential framing practices and emerging design technologies.
Upcoming efforts include working more regularly with the Continuing Education committee to present seminars, assisting in developing programs for the annual AIA Minnesota convention, and creating an interactive email/web forum for soliciting input and posting responses on specific topics. The committee is mostly related to architectural practice, but we do try to cross-fertilize with related professions when its appropriate (engineers, lighting designers, specifiers, contractors, interior designers, etc.). Come! Contribute! Give us your thoughts and experiences as a small firm practitioner!

Meetings are typically held on the 4th Tuesday of the month, over the noon hour, in the AIA Minnesota Board Room.
Co-Chairs: Jim Moy, AIA; Taunya Nelson, AIA; Scott Newland, AIA
AIA MN Staff Liaison: Deanna Christiansen, christiansen@aia-mn.org
