This program will review innovative wood products and examine how the use of wood as a structural material in buildings positively impacts their carbon footprint. Attendees will learn about North American forests, effects of harvesting practices over the past 100 years and how responsible forest management can lead to positive environmental impacts. A case study on the Aspen Art Museum will also be presented exploring the design and construction of the wood structure. Cross laminated timber (CLT) framing systems and details incorporating its use will also be reviewed.
