The University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum are bringing in the top five names in nature-based therapeutics to inform us where the state-of-the-research has been, is now, and where it’s going. We feel that the topic is so important, we are framing it in three different formats to reach the most people possible.
Terry Hartig – Restorative Landscapes
Agnes van den Berg – Green Exercise
Joe Sempik – Therapeutic Horticulture
Cindy Wilson – Animal Assisted Interactions
Jan Hassink – Care Farming
To showcase the topic and these experts, we are hosting:
• Public Forum on September 30 at Coffman Theater. This event is for a general audience interested in the healing power of nature and research evidence to support the idea.
• Symposium on Oct. 1 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, where the experts will give us a more detailed explanation of their work, their methods and measures used in their projects, and where they see their work in future.
• Research Roundtable on October 2 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboreutm, where research scientists interested in the field of nature-based therapeutics can engage with leaders and others on research topics relevant to areas of interest.
Additionally, during the month of October we are also hosting – with Boynton Health Services – a Nature Heals 30×30 initiative. The 30×30 is an invitation to spend 30 minutes in nature each day for the month of October. We will have many supporting events and activities during the 30 days to encourage people to get outside for their daily dose of nature.
By joining in the Nature Heals conversation, you will boost your overall knowledge and understanding of the state of research in the field, the benefits of research to application, and the prospects for involvement in future research projects.
Please note that you must visit this link to register for the Research Roundtable at http://csh.umn.edu/program-areas-section/nature-based-therapeutics/NatureHeals/index.htm
Your registration reserves your spot at both the Symposium and the Roundtable.
