The Bearden Place Housing Competition in the Minneapolis "Artist Core" was recently held and received 47 submissions including national entries, from which a jury of six selected three winning schemes and three honorable mentions. The design competition was a unique collaboration between the Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development Department (CPED) and the Builders Outreach Foundation which challenged the design community to create six affordable and sustainable artist housing units on vacant inner city properties.

This luncheon program will be a presentation and facilitated panel discussion with the sponsors, the professional advisor and select jurors and entrants. Attendees will learn about the history, objectives and results of the Competition and have an opportunity to discuss critical issues facing architects as communities rebuild from the devastating effects of the housing crisis.
