The Emerging Professionals Committee organizes regular events throughout the year, including a seminar at the annual AIA Minnesota Convention & Product Exposition, as well as an outreach event for architecture students each fall.
Licensure Luau (December 9, 2015)
Each December, the Emerging Professionals Committee hosts a special Draughting Club to celebrate and recognize the past year’s newly licensed architects.
Illuminating the Path to Leadership for Emerging Professionals (November 12, 2015)
This panel discussion offered at the 2015 AIA Minnesota Convention explores how emerging professionals can leverage their skills to add value to their practice and move into leadership positions. It also investigates how firm cultures change and grow through the inclusion of young professionals in leadership positions.
Professional Perspectives (September 16, 2015)
At this panel discussion, five to six Emerging Professionals will speak with University of Minnesota School of Architecture students about the challenges and rewards of making the transition from school to practice. Panelists will share their candid thoughts, offer advice, and answer questions from the audience.
Pathfinders: Taking Charge & Navigating Your Career (November 12, 2014)
This program was geared toward both young architects just starting out looking for career growth advice and guidance, as well as more seasoned mid-career licensed professionals eager to learn how they can better serve themselves in the field. Ten professionals with varying foci for their careers led three rounds of discussion with attendees in a speed-dating format.
