||The Deputy Borough Commissioner will report directly to the Borough Commissioner and is responsible for instituting departmental initiatives and strategies. The Deputy Borough Commissioner will be responsible for the following: Working directly with the Borough Commissioner and Strategic Planning Specialist in identifying operational problems, providing recommendations for improving the day-to-day operations and enhancing service delivery, prioritizing assignments and successfully implementing special projects and departmental goals. Ensuring consistency among the five borough offices. Supervising the Borough Manager and Inspection Manager and their direct supervisors responsible for the daily administrative operations of the borough office including, but not limited to: application processing and fee collection of construction applications, violation and variances, Data Entry and Research (DEAR), permit issuance, Certificate of Occupancy, disposition and data entry of violations, records management, facility maintenance and customer service correspondence (complaint/ referral) tracking inspections Identifying operational needs and preparing requests in coordination with the central units responsible for thothose areas. Working with Human Resources to manage staffing issues. Compiling data and reports to identify trends and determine possible areas for streamlining and/or initiatives for re-engineering Working with the Information Technology unit to address borough-wide technology issues.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Qualification Requirements 1. Possession of a valid New York State Professional Engineer's License or valid New York State Registration as an Architect and 2. A baccalaureate degree in engineering or architecture issued upon completion of a course of study in an accredited college, university or technical institution and six (6) years of full-time paid experience as an architect, builder or professional engineer employed in structural work, or a satisfactory equivalent.
Extensive knowledge of the NYC Building Code and Zoning Resolution. Strong managerial skills, including leadership, organizational and communication skills.
