||Reports to the Vice President for Administration & Financial Services plans and directs University facilities planning functions; administers University space assignment; directs the design and delivery of architectural and engineering services relating to facility renovation, repair, and new construction; consults with campus clients concerning academic and administrative facilities needs and interests; prepares long-range University facilities master plan information; directs facility planning, design, and construction stages; and arranges for the preparation and presentation of materials and information concerning University capital projects, findings with need-scope studies, and facility use reports to University, community, Board of Regents, local, state, and federal planning committees and commissions. Professional degree in Architecture plus at least ten years of experience in general architecture practice or a combination of ten years of architecture and facilities planning experience required. Iowa licensure or ability to obtain licensure within six months; experience in staff supervision and staff development; demonstrated experience in successful leadership in facilities management, budget management and capital project planning, design and construction; experience with sustainable and accessible design and construction standards; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills also required. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of higher education and facility/planning needs of a comprehensive university; demonstrated customer service orientation; experience in development of capital project budget estimates and design/construction schedules; and experience leading and managing change in a complex organization also preferred.
