This position is responsible for the preparation of design documents for civil systems (land development, transportation, environmental, drainage, water and sanitary sewer design), including calculations, reports, drawings, and technical specifications. This position will serve as a member of an integrated design team, and be responsible for coordinating civil design along other disciplines, to meet project schedules and budgets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Prepare design documents for civil systems, including calculations, drawings and civil specifications.
•Review preliminary and final plans and specifications for constructability and risk management.
•Work with other Engineers assigned to applicable projects.
•Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the local office and/or other corporate locations serve as a liaison between senior engineer and design team.
•Assists the senior civil engineer in preparing the conceptual, preliminary and final design.
•Attends meetings with client to coordinate various design activities and is responsible for providing material lists for quotations.
•Assist with other duties assigned by Project Managers and Discipline Director.
•Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with department personnel and office staff; must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
•Basic knowledge and understanding of civil engineering concepts and theories.
•Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•Basic proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D, or other design/drafting software.
•Microstation/Bentley experience is a plus.
•Some experience with use of civil related design software and tools.
•Ability to work in a team to achieve project goals and as an individual to achieve personal goals; ability to work without extensive supervision.
•Ability to travel.
Education and License Requirements:
•Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited Technical College or University
•2-5 years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry
•Passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam to become an Engineer in Training.
