committed to professional development, public service, accessible
information, and continuous opportunities.
Membership Structure
AIA Minnesota is recognized throughout the nation as one of the
strongest components of the AIA. Whether an intern, associate, or
AIA member, you would belong to a local chapter: either AIA Minneapolis, AIA Saint Paul or AIA Northern Minnesota. In addition to affiliation with a local chapter, you would
be a member of Minnesota's state organization (AIA Minnesota), and
the national AIA.

AIA Minneapolis: Minneapolis, its suburbs, and the southwestern part of the state
AIA Saint Paul: St. Paul, its suburbs, and the southeastern part of the state
AIA Northern Minnesota: Duluth and the northern part of the state
Member Involvement
AIA Minnesota is a member-driven organization. Our members plan
meetings, serve on task forces, and direct the future of the profession
through service in the AIA. We urge all of our members, especially
our new members, to serve on one of our many committees that meet regularly or volunteer for activities as your time allows. If you are new to AIA Minnesota, please fill out a Member Profile and tell us of your interests.
Membership Benefits
The benefits of membership are numerous--as a member of AIA Minnesota
you would receive a one-year subscription to Architecture Minnesota magazine, an award-winning publication, as well as our monthly enewsletter, Matrix, and information on upcoming programs, seminars and events.
You would also receive support for your profession, opportunities
for continuing education, be able to stay in-tune with current news
and events relating to architecture including legislation.

Membership Categories
Architect Member (AIA): Individuals licensed to practice architecture in U.S. State or Territory.

Associate Member (Assoc. AIA): Assoc. AIA is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
- Recent graduate with a degree in architecture, Special Offer; or
- Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working towards licensure, or
- Currently work under the supervision of an architect or hold a degree in architecture, or
Faculty member in a university program in architecture.

Emeritus: Emeritus membership is open to AIA architect or associate members whose membership has been in good standing for 15 consecutive years and are at least 65 years of age or incapacitated and unable to work in the architecture profession.

ALLIED MEMBERSHIP
Allied membership is another membership category within the AIA. This is an individual who works in a field related to the practice of architecture. Included in this group are landscape architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, graphic designers, and professionals in government, education, industry, research, journalism, or others who will provide a meaningful contribution by virtue of their employment, profession, or interest.
Allied membership is at the local level in one of the state chapters (either AIA Minneapolis, AIA Saint Paul, or AIA Northern Minnesota), and at the state level (AIA Minnesota). Membership benefits include those listed above for regular members. Allied members are also invited to join AIA Minnesota committees and participate in continuing education seminars, lectures or other events.
