The RELi resilient design standard’s principal author, Doug Pierce, AIA, will walk the committee through the latest version of this pioneering new tool for adaptation to climate change and socio-economic instability. Since the May 2015 publication of the RELi online flipbook, RELi has continued to be seen as a leadership standard. It has been included in multiple reports and articles including ASID’s winter 2017 edition of ICON magazine, the Obama White House’s “Standards and Finance to Support Resilient Communities,” the “AIA Disaster Assistance Handbook,” and the Energy, Kresge, and Barr Foundations’ “Voluntary Resilience Standards Assessment.”

The presentation will provide an overview of RELi’s recently rebranded flipbook, along with case studies and methods for incorporating resilience into projects. The presentation will also include proposed resilience updates to AIA Minnesota’s groundbreaking 2004 Climate Change Position Statement.
