The Minneapolis T3 Office Building in Minneapolis’ North Loop was recently completed and will be made available for a tour providing HSW continuing education credits. This seven-story Heavy Timber (HT) building is the largest timber commercial building in North America. Heavy Timber (HT) construction has been employed for centuries by builders and architects around the world and recent HT commercial and multifamily housing projects have heightened interest in the use of this traditional material. Team members guiding this tour will share highlights about the design and construction that make this big timber, sustainable building an interesting addition to Minneapolis’ Warehouse District. On the tour, you will see and learn about two different HT systems used, board-formed cast-in-place concrete walls and pre-weathered metal panel walls.
