Do you enjoy gathering with colleagues to discuss timely urban design and planning issues over drinks? If so, join AIA Minneapolis’ Urban Design Committee and Evolving Practice Forum for a happy hour at the Black Forest Inn. We’ll be talking about the recent exchange in the Star Tribune between U College of Design dean Thomas Fisher and Minneapolis long-range planning director Kjersti Monson regarding the impact of the city’s design guidelines on multifamily housing projects.

Are the many new apartment buildings featuring a patchwork of exterior materials a good or bad thing for the city? And who or what is responsible for the trend? We look forward to the friendly debate.

The Urban Design Committee meets to develop AIA Minneapolis luncheon presentations, plan design charrettes and other committee-sponsored events, and discuss current urban design and planning issues with guest speakers.

Co-chairs: Ben Castiglione, Assoc. AIA, and Matthew Stewart
Staff liaison: Chris Hudson
Meeting date: First Wednesday of the month
