Provocative Thoughts and Red Herrings”
Speaker: Kevin Flynn, AIA, LEED Fellow BD+C
Sustainability has come a long way in the past 15 years – having made huge leaps and bounds to factor into nearly everyone’s lexicon. And that’s it – we’re talking about it more than ever yet in many ways we seem to be further from our goal. While the urgency of the environmental imperative is rapidly increasing, it seems that most governments and people are acting less or more slowly if acting at all.
Drawing on observations and anecdotes (and almost no scientific evidence) culled from his own work and many failings, Kevin will weave an irreverent conversation through three mini-lectures tentatively titled: “Sustainability Unlearned – How I Spent my Summer Vacation”, “On-Site Renewable Energy is Stupid and Wrong?”, and “Success Begat Failure and Vice-Versa” plus one spine-tingling bonus idea if there’s enough time.
In this session you will be challenged to think about sustainability from an alternative perspective, and find ways to make what we all have begun to take for granted into something meaningful to the mainstream again.
