DESIGN TEAM: Ryan Fish, AIA; Lars Peterssen, AIA; Jason Briles, Assoc. AIA; Katie Bassett
PROJECT TYPE: Remodel/Addition
After living in their dark, cramped circa-1970 lake house for nearly a decade, the homeowners commissioned Peterssen/Keller Architecture to transform it into a light, airy, casually glamorous lake home. Working within the existing foundation of the home, the architects’ design creates a strong connection to the lake through beautifully-framed vistas, tall ceilings, and open living spaces suitable for entertaining. An added challenge for the architects was to provide adequate storage and closet space to make up for the absence of a basement.
As an interior designer who had teamed up with the Peterssen/Keller team on a past project, the homeowner worked collaboratively with the design team to create a simple yet sophisticated backdrop against which she could artfully combine antiques, new furnishings and treasured objects with glamorous lighting, colorful rugs, paintings and photographs.
