Candidate will have 10 - 25 years of experience in the design and analysis of buildings and other structures. This individual is expected to have independently managed the structural design of buildings. Prospective candidates need structural design experience using steel, cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete, and wood framed construction. A strong education in structural engineering is required and a master’s degree is a plus. Experience with various types of structural design and detailing software including STAAD, RAM, AutoCAD, and Revit is desirable. A valid driver’s license with good driving record required. Professional registration in Wisconsin (or ability to become registered within six months) and the ability to become licensed in other states is required.
This individual will work under the supervision of a group manager to independently manage design projects by coordinating project requirements with clients, in-house staff, and review agencies. Primary responsibilities include the management and design of buildings. Duties also include marketing structural design services to potential clients performing structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, and timber structure elements utilizing structural software; applying code requirements; developing and checking plan details; as well as preparing cost estimates, technical reports, and specifications for buildings and other structures. Also may be asked to assist on structural design of bridges, retaining walls, sign bridges, dams, and other hydraulic structures to support other structural engineering projects. May be required to provide construction oversight on projects.
