Kelly Doran has more than three decades of experience in commercial real estate and is widely recognized as one of the leading developers in Minnesota. Known for developing some of the most exclusive, high-end luxury apartment and townhome communities across the Twin Cities, the Doran Family – including Kelly and his eldest son, Evan – have developed everything from residential and multi-family and student housing to retail shopping centers.
Doran Property Group is seeking a Director of Architecture for its corporate office in Bloomington, MN. In this role, you will work extensively with third party architectural consultants assembling Revit documents, quality control and coordinating activities with other decision consultants. Projects include multi-family housing and retail designs.
You will also communicate with other related disciplines, including internal construction staff, and field locations to confirm design intent and specifications. The successful candidate should possess 5-10 years of experience, hold a professional degree in architecture and be preferably licensed in the state of Minnesota and ideally also licensed in the state of Colorado.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in Revit and Sketchup
Work history in wood-frame multi-family housing; experience in full-concrete construction is a benefit
Proficient in site planning and concept design
Talent in design skills and graphic presentation
Technically competent in construction documentation and detailing.
Well-developed knowledge of building codes
Knowledge of product specification methods
Familiarity with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and codes.
Working knowledge of engineering systems and the ability to communicate with other design disciplines including civil, structural, interior, and other design consultants.
Professional verbal communication and writing skills.
Comfortable presenting architectural plans, details, and specifications to City, Financial, or other Partners
Familiar with AIA contracts and forms
Strong management skills with ability to manage both internal support staff and work collaboratively with third-party design partners.
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent preferred or equal experience.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office, and pertinent web application skills
