Colliers is seeking a licensed architect to perform and direct all phases of commercial architecture, including tenant improvements, additions, new construction, and conversions.

The Director of Architecture will manage a professional architectural office, including oversight of the team, and recruiting new talent.

The Director will guide and assist the Architecture team; and will oversee the successful and profitable completion of architectural projects and services, from project scope definition through on-site completion of construction.

The Director of Architecture will pursue and secure new business opportunities, with internal and external clients; and will support Colliers’ efforts to grow the business.


The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include the following specific tasks. Other duties may be assigned at any time.

Provide leadership and mentoring to all Architecture staff
Provide strategic leadership for the profitability and growth of the company, in accordance with Colliers strategic business objectives
Identify and generate new sources of revenue from internal and external clients. Lead the Architecture team in new and ongoing business development efforts
Drive the Architecture team to meet and exceed performance standards
Recruit and retain design and technical talent
Maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors, as well as creating new client and industry relationships
Collaborate with internal service companies (Construction, Real Estate Brokerage, Real Estate Management Services, Project Management and Engineering and Property Services) to identify cross selling opportunities to benefit the overall organization
Analyze workflow and operational inefficiencies, and recommend changes needed to create maximum productivity
Ability to understand clients’ needs and expectations on projects (budget limitations, design needs, schedule impacts, etc.)
Create building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using computer-aided design (CAD) and Revit applications
Liaison with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects
Navigate projects through constraining factors such as city planning legislation, environmental concerns, and project budgets
Write and present reports, proposals, applications, and contracts
Make sure project are running according to schedule and budget
Travel regularly to building sites, proposed locations and client meetings
Coordinate project management of multiple projects and ensure appropriate project documentation is performed on each project
Identify cost saving and improved delivery opportunities to benefit clients and projects
Assemble and manage the necessary resources that are required to complete successful projects, including outside consultants and vendors
Required: Professional degree in Architecture
Preferred: Additional post-graduate coursework in areas of Architecture, Interior Design, Business or related field.

Required: Licensed Architect, with NCARB Certification

Work Experience
Required: Requires ten years experience in the architectural field, or a related industry; with experience managing people and teams in a design-oriented company.
