Description
PKA Architecture is a full-service architecture firm that specializes in the design of high-end homes, lofts, cabins, and boutique commercial projects. Based in Minneapolis, but with projects across the country, we are a collaborative studio that focuses on a high level of design and client service.
We are currently hiring a
Financial Controller to work in our Uptown studio.
This individual will manage the finance, accounting, business administration, and HR responsibilities for the firm by working directly with company owners. This individual will do both the daily “hands on” accounting in addition to overall financial strategy and business leadership within the firm.
Responsibilities:
Daily:
• Monitor bank balances and credit card activity
• Receive payments via checks, credit cards, wire transfers
• Enter credit card charges and bills
• Maintain billing, accounting, and project management software suite
• Manage client records, including billing and contracts
Weekly:
• Pay Bills
• Approve Timesheets
• Complete error-free Payroll (bi-weekly)
Monthly:
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
• Finalize previous month transactions (month end)
• Report and pay MN Sales Tax
• Reimburse employee expenses
• Manage receivable cycle from data entry, reimbursables expenses, and invoice approval to payment receipt
• Send Statements for delinquent accounts
• Manage employee reviews (schedule, approve feedback, comp adjustments, prep)
• Conduct benefits check-ins with employees
Quarterly/Annual:
• File Payroll Taxes – State/Fed FICA, State/Fed Unemployment
• Send out W2 and 1099, 940 reporting
• Prep previous year financials for CPA Firm (Jan/Feb)
• File taxes and state annual reports
• Oversee Business Insurance Renewal – E&O, Crime, D&O, Work Comp, Gen Liability, etc.
• Oversee Employee Insurance Renewal – Medical, Dental, Life/AD&D/LTD/STD, etc.
• Manage Open Enrollment (December)
• Record and file S-Corp Annual Meeting minutes
Ongoing/As-Needed.
• Maintain organized files
• Audit for contracts and miscellaneous areas of risk
• Work with company owners for profit distributions
• Provide owners general oversight and direction of accounting and HR activities
• New Employee Enrollment – Offer packages, documentation, training
• Employee Terminations – Exit Interviews, COBRA coordination
• Enforce financial processes and procedures
• Respond to Census and Surveys
• Ad Hoc reports
• Maintain Corporate Record Book (buy/sell, stock certs, written actions, etc)
Requirements: Need to Have:
• 5+ years experience in finance, accounting, including total responsibility for payroll and working with a CPA to prepare and file taxes
• 3+ years in a leadership, managerial, or HR position
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and high level of integrity and confidentiality
• Intermediate Excel skills (vlookup, indexing, pivot tables, etc. )
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365
• Experience with Quickbooks
Nice to Have:
• Experience with software implementation and database management
• Experience in professional services industry (architecture, engineering, legal, etc)
• Experience with S-Corp and multiple owners
• Experience working with vendors for resale of product
