Description
Founded in 1977, Klein McCarthy Architects has from its inception cultivated a specialty in justice architecture and public facility design, with over 400 completed justice studies and projects and a solid base of satisfied, long-term clients. With a focus on the upper Midwest, we have successfully serviced dozens of counties and other government entities in Minnesota and the surrounding region.
The Project Architect (PA) is the person accountable for accomplishing tasks that are assigned by the Project Manager (PM) for a client’s project. As a Licensed Architect, the PA is a senior member of the Klein McCarthy Architects team. The PA has responsibilities that include building design layouts, coordinating drafting, coordinating with engineers on their tasks and attending client meetings when required. The Project Architect must be able to adapt to multiple tasks that will be assigned by the PM. In some cases, the Project Architect may be working towards becoming a Project Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Work under guidance of a Project Manager.
• The PA will be required to attend client meetings to acquire data and provide status updates.
• The PA is accountable for consultant coordination and timelines.
• Review and process submittals, request for information, and change management during Construction Administration.
• Train and mentor Designers through peer review and invest in their growth through delegated project experience.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 – 10 years of experience in practice, including internships.
• Bachelor’s or Master of Architecture from an accredited university and current Minnesota architectural registration.
• Knowledge of building codes, building science, and constructability.
• Ability to quickly communicate creative design strategies though excellent graphic and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to collaborate well with team members as well as work independently to service individual client needs.
• The ability to multi-task and manage one’s own time.
• Have firm knowledge of: BIM, Revit, Microsoft office, and Photoshop
Preferred:
• Preferred experience in justice or public facility design.
Schedule:
• Monday to Friday (weekend work maybe required due to deadlines)
• Flexible work hours (Core Hours: 9am – 4pm)
• Remote work allowed on Fridays
