Description

Position Overview
As part of Edward Farr Architects—a small but growing firm operating within a publicly traded worldwide consortium of AE firms—the Project Architect contributes meaningfully to the firm’s reputation for quality and its continued growth in the commercial and industrial design market. The Project Architect is responsible for leading design assignments across commercial and industrial projects from inception through construction completion. This role requires a hands-on architect who can manage client relationships, coordinate with engineering consultants and governmental authorities, and deliver technically sound, code-compliant architectural solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead design assignments in close coordination with the client, internal project team, engineering consultants, and governmental authorities through all project phases.
• Create designs and solutions tailored to the client’s budget and program.
• Comply with codes, ordinances, industry and architectural standards.
• Manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are met.
• Assist in the preparation of fee proposals and AIA contracts.
• Supervise drafting staff as required.
• Prepare construction drawings (Revit) and specifications (SpecLink).
• Conduct construction phase site visits to monitor progress and resolve field issues.
• Review and certify contractor payment applications.
• Review shop drawing submittals for conformance with contract documents.

Required Experience
• Licensed Architect in Minnesota.
• Minimum 10 years of professional architectural experience on commercial and industrial projects.
• Thorough understanding of construction, building materials, and construction detailing.
• Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and MS Word & Excel.
• Strong personal organization and time management skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience
• NCARB certification or Wisconsin licensure.
• Familiarity with industry tools and systems including:
• SpecLink Cloud (in-house training available)
• AIA Contract Documents
• BOMA area calculation methods
