Lakeville Area Schools (Independent School District No. 194) is an award-winning school system located in the south metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota. The district serves approximately 11,500 students in Lakeville, parts of Burnsville and Elko New Market, and portions of Eureka, Credit River and New Market Township. There are eight elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools, an Area Learning Center, an online K-12 school, Early Childhood programming, and lifelong learning opportunities through Community Education. WHAT YOU’LL LIKE ABOUT US: Comprehensive and affordable benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life/AD&D and Long-Term Disability Coverage Paid time off and paid holidays 403(b) Plan & matching HRA Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: Assist in the development of the preliminary conceptual designs, budgets and time estimates for assigned projects. Identify events that could alter the scope, budget, and schedule of the project and develop contingency plans for meeting objectives. Analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and make decisions under the general direction of the Director of Facilities and Plant Planning. Coordinate the work of consultants; provide technical direction and support as needed. Act as lead facilitator/owner’s representative of a project from beginning to end. Communicate orally and in writing with peers, building staff, administration and community members related to project design and construction. Identify the need for external consultants and contractors. In consultation with the Director of Facilities and Plant Planning, negotiate contracts with the same. Monitor and evaluate performance of consultants and contractors. Examine plans and specifications prepared by consultants and propose changes as required to comply with District standards or industry best practices; ensure standards are met. Observe the construction of/within district buildings and monitor project quality control and conformance to project objectives. Manage contracts and purchase orders for assigned projects. Perform Facility Condition Assessments as assigned. Assist in the financial oversite for the projects assigned. Participate in supporting and updating the Facilities Master Plan. Assist in the establishment and updating of design standards for the District. Interface with, and use, accounting, procurement, and project management software. Attend job related and/or mandatory workshops and training programs. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Facilities and Plant Planning Director.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Specific training or job experience required before appointment):   College graduation with a degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, business administration or a closely related field. Three years professional experience in the planning and construction of projects. Two years of construction administration preferred. Experience in educational / institutional construction preferred. Physical ability and stamina to meet the below physical requirements on a daily basis.
