Lake Country Builders, a trusted and award-winning family-owned design-build firm serving the Twin Cities, Greater Minnesota, and Northwest Wisconsin for nearly 50 years, is seeking a detail-oriented Residential Draftsperson to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the full design-build process by creating accurate architectural drawings and construction documents that turn client goals into clear, build-ready plans. This position bridges design and field production, ensuring our projects are planned with precision, creativity, and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate architectural drawings including plans, elevations, and sections for remodeling and new construction
• Create 2D and 3D drawings, renderings, and design presentation materials (AutoCAD & SketchUp)
• Perform Matterport scans and build detailed as-built drawings from models, field measurements, and site visits
• Prepare demolition plans, electrical/lighting layouts, and construction detailing
• Integrate structural engineering and product specifications into project plans
• Develop and maintain window, door, and millwork schedules
• Maintain organized drawing sets and update plans based on field feedback and scope changes
• Provide timely drafting support to production and estimating teams
• Produce permit-ready drawings for smaller projects such as decks, porches, egress windows, mudrooms, additions, and built-ins
• Coordinate with vendors and designers to incorporate product details and installation requirements
• Ensure all drawings comply with building codes and established construction standards
• Participate in design and production meetings and support 3D presentations when needed

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years experience in residential drafting, architecture, design, or construction
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp required
• Experience with Matterport scanning a plus (or willingness to learn)
• Solid understanding of residential construction methods and building codes
• Ability to translate conceptual design direction into technical construction drawings
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Positive, collaborative attitude and commitment to craftsmanship and quality
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
