Description
Position Overview
Hometown Fiber is seeking a skilled Revit Technician to assist with the design and documentation of data centers, telecommunications facilities, and other technical infrastructure projects. This is a project-based, on-demand role that may involve periods of frequent work followed by periods with little or no activity, depending on project schedules.
The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, capable of working with existing models, creating new building models from LiDAR scans, and collaborating closely with our engineering and design team during live remote design sessions.
Key Responsibilities
– Create, modify, and maintain Revit models for data centers, telecommunications facilities, and other technical spaces.
– Import and convert LiDAR scan data into accurate Revit building models.
– Work with existing Revit models to make revisions, updates, and design modifications.
– Participate in scheduled remote design sessions via Microsoft Teams or Zoom with Hometown Fiber staff.
– Implement design changes in real time based on direction from project stakeholders.
– Model architectural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, telecommunications, and low-voltage systems within Revit.
– Perform multiple redline revision cycles and design updates throughout project development.
– Develop construction documentation and drawing sheets from Revit models.
– Organize and manage drawing sets by discipline, including:
Architectural
Mechanical
Electrical
Telecommunications / Low Voltage
Other applicable trades
– Establish and maintain proper layers, views, sheets, and project standards.
– Coordinate drawing deliverables for use in contractor bidding and construction planning.
Required Qualifications:
– Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
– Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
– Experience creating Revit models from point cloud or LiDAR scan data.
– Ability to generate construction documents and drawing sheets from Revit models.
– Understanding of construction drawing standards and discipline coordination.
– Familiarity with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems.
– Ability to work collaboratively during live remote design sessions.
– Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple rounds of revisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience with telecommunications, fiber optic infrastructure, data centers, or technology facility design.
– Experience coordinating multidisciplinary construction drawings.
– Familiarity with contractor bid packages and construction documentation workflows.
Work Schedule:
This is a flexible, project-based contract position. Work is typically scheduled during design sessions occurring several times per week while active projects are underway. Project workloads vary, and there may be periods of limited activity between projects.
