Position Summary

The Senior Controls Engineer is a creative engineer who understands how to balance controls design with the realities of Life Time’s needs under direct supervision of Director of Engineering. This requires a broad understanding and experience with sophisticated building types, an appreciation of the fiscal and financial aspects of their operations, an ability to filter out the salient and critical aspects of Life Time’s needs, deep understanding of construction process, and the vision to translate that information into a documented form that meets Life Time’s expectations.

The Senior Controls Engineer has an appreciation for the goals of the design process, and works with all team members and consultants to development and implement controls solutions that meet the constraints of time, budget, and schedule. The ideal candidate is able to leverage skill sets through versatility in the approach of design solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Work with internal teams and outsourced engineering consultants to establish Life Time controls standards, performance specification and system narratives
Review construction drawings, specifications and project manuals for all projects to ensure compliance with Life Time standards, objectives, budget and schedule
Manage design and engineering of a broad range of project types. Identify Engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented
Perform control panel sizing, equipment selection, MEP/lighting control, and coordinate with IT/AV and low voltage design. Perform detailed technical and engineering analysis as needed
Conduct pre-construction review, plan project resources and budget, and utilize value engineering to ensure projects are managed within budget
Manage and communicate project scope changes, issues and risks
Review and direct the response to RFIs and Submittals
Lead and oversee energy efficient building design and building commissioning, manage renewable energy and green building systems for all projects (RE,Retro and CX)
Position Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer License (PE)
10 or more years of experience in Engineering
7 or more years of experience in commercial buildings (all phases of design and construction)
3 or more years of experience in project management
​ Preferred Requirements

Working knowledge of control systems (MEP & Lighting)
Working knowledge of multi-use facility planning, design, and operation standards
Ability to work with CAD software programs such as REVIT and AutoCAD
Experience in analyzing and interpreting technical data, reports, specifications, and engineering and architectural plans
Corporate Travel as required to project sites
