Job Description

Position Summary
The ideal candidate is a creative engineer who understands how to balance Electrical/IT/AV design with the realities of Life Time’s needs under direct supervision of Director of Engineering. This requires a broad understanding and experience with sophisticated building types, an appreciation of the fiscal and financial aspects of their operations, an ability to filter out the salient and critical aspects of Life Time’s needs, deep understanding of construction process, and the vision to translate that information into a documented form that meets Life Time’s expectations.

The Sr. Electrical Engineer has an appreciation for the goals of the design process, and works with all team members and consultants to development and implement Electrical/IT/AV solutions that meet the constraints of time, budget, and schedule. The ideal candidate is able to leverage skill sets through versatility in the approach of design solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Establishes electrical standards – performance specification and system narratives for Life Time working with internal teams as well as outsourced engineering consultants. Participates in QA/QC for all projects being issued for permits and construction, reviews drawings and designs for compliance with standards and participates in multidisciplinary project teams construction drawings and specification document review meetings. P

erforms engineering load calculations, electrical panel sizing, equipment selection, lighting and lighting control, IT/AV design Plans project resources and budget Manages design and engineering of a broad range of electrical project types Reviews technical content and operational requirements in construction drawings, specifications, and project manuals for compliance with Life Time’s standards- objectives, budget, and schedule Conducts pre-construction reviews including estimate review.

Manages and appropriately communicates project scope changes, issues, and risks Utilizes value engineering to ensure projects are managed within budget Reviews and directs the response to RFIs and submittals Performs detailed technical and engineering analysis, as needed Identifies engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented Leads sustainable building design and operation Manages renewable energy systems for buildings Oversees energy efficient design of buildings and Building Commissioning (Re, Retro and CX) Works closely with all company disciplines Mentors, provides guidance and is a professional educator for staff Acts as a resource for construction and operations teams.

Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 10 or more years of experience in engineering 7 or more years of experience in commercial buildings. 3 or more years of experience in project management Professional Engineer License (PE) NCEES record with ability to be licensed in any State Previous work experience must include all phases of design and construction. 

Working knowledge of electrical systems (power, lighting, controls, etc.) Working knowledge of healthcare facility planning, design, and operation standards. Ability to work with CAD software programs such as REVIT and AutoCAD Experience in analyzing and interpreting technical data, reports, specifications, and engineering and architectural plans.
