Finding the right fit:
Our architectural team is seeking a logical and ambitious specification writer who has the passion to be a life-long learner, ability to develop and maintain company specifications, and has high ethical standards that allow you to serve as a technical and risk management resource for our firm.

Asking the ‘right’ questions will give you a comprehensive understanding of our client’s vision and seamlessly translate that into a written description of materials, approach, equipment, and appropriate testing that guides a project to success. You’ll take pride in staying at the forefront of industry trends, allowing you to consistently equip our team with innovative and practical solutions that protect our clients and company.

On any given day, you’ll:
-Develop and maintain company master specification standards.
-Select appropriate specifications for project editing.
-Review drawings and other documents to write and edit specifications for projects and coordinate compliance with project requirements, client guidelines, Ayres standards, technical conditions, rules, regulations and codes.
-Interpret project design and clearly and concisely communicate complex technical information through strong writing and verbal skills.
-Participate in QA/QC of project design, drawings, and specifications.
-Perform product research that supports project managers and architects with material selection and system research.
-Respond to internal and client questions on specifications, construction contract language, products, and more.
-Update product data web links and catalogs.
-Prepare bidding and contracting requirements for projects based on client input and use of industry standard document such as AIA and EJCDC contract documents.
-Coordinate bidding document distribution and construction contract awards. -Collaborate with architects to incorporate green design solutions into projects.
-Make updates to contract and specification reference standards (electronic and paper).

Required Qualifications:
-A bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering.
-Construction Documents Technology (CDT) certification.
-A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in specification development.
-Proficient in specification software programs such as BSD – SpecLink-E.
-Experience with MS office suite, and Adobe Acrobat or equivalent PDF software.

Desired Skills and Experiences:
-A registered architect or engineer.
-Certification as a Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) or Certified Construction -Administrator (CCCA) is considered a plus.
-Prior experience in healthcare, commercial buildings, government buildings and school districts.
-Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce quality results within a deadline.
-Prior experience with grant administration would be beneficial as it would allow you to act as a resource to our clients in applying for grants, communication with key organizations, and incorporate appropriate language into proposals, etc.
-Strong problem solving and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
-Be an active member of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), preferred.
