JLG Architects

JLG Architects is seeking a Sustainability Specialist – At JLG Architects, we seek to achieve what has not been done, infusing sustainable design criteria into the beginning of every project; not waiting to sprinkle it in at the end. Our proactive approach is a breath of fresh air that builds resilience for persons and places. As Sustainability Specialist and employee-owner, your efforts will inspire and facilitate the integration of sustainability and architectural design, while developing firm-wide systems and processes that will help save our planet’s most valuable resources. If you have a passion for pursuing high ambitions, we’re ready to make you a valuable resource by providing guidance, research, documentation, and education in a rewarding career that’s focused on changing the world. Ghandi said, “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.” We are doing just that by changing the outcome of each project and its impact on each person. JLG is changing the way firms practice, challenging the norms, and leading the profession into new approaches. As a Sustainability Specialist and employee-owner, you will be responsible for providing direct support to project teams while achieving firm initiatives using your knowledge of the built environment and awareness of sustainable building practices. You will assist in Design Collaboration, one-on-one equipping, and specialized training sessions with over 150 fellow JLGers virtually connected across 10 offices. Under the direction of Sustainability Leadership, you will share your expertise on tracking key metrics, collecting post-occupancy data, energy modeling, code compliance, and life cycle cost analysis – integrating sustainable design methodology into design solutions that elevate client goals!

A JLG Sustainability Specialist:

  • Is educated. You have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, bringing 1-3 years minimum of relevant professional experience and a preferred LEED and WELL AP Accreditation.
  • Is experienced. You bring knowledge of the built environment, sustainable building practices, and LEED implementation processes, research, and documentation.
  • Is skilled. You have skills in Revit, Sketch-Up, Sefaira or related software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Is an explorer. Unafraid of the discovery process. You embrace post-occupancy data and conceptual thinking with the ability to analyze, research, and implement.
  • Is a communicator. You have communication and presentation skills with the ability to guide and coordinate team members with ease.
  • Is analytical. You leverage design analytics, working with leadership to track key metrics, conduct research, and analyze date to support building performance analysis and internal sustainability program management.
  • Dives into Documentation. You preserve firm commitments by preparing documentation and submittals to ensure timely completion in accordance with JLG best practices – maintaining certifications, programs, and our 2030 commitment.
  • Is a collaborator. You love a good challenge, collaborating with project teams to identify issues, develop solutions, and explore and discover new methods that will elevate design.
  • Takes initiative. You demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to multi-task and adapt – ready to pivot with the project on a moment’s notice.
