Advancing EQUITY and inclusion in the profession of architecture.

The Wigington Fund was established in 1992 and is named in honor of Clarence (“Cap”) Wigington, the first Black architect licensed in Minnesota who served the City of St. Paul as the nation’s first Black municipal architect. The Fund celebrates his extraordinary accomplishments both in the profession and in the built environment. Selected recipients demonstrate financial need, a commitment to pursuing licensure in Minnesota, and a desire to carry on Mr. Wigington’s legacy.

Wigington Fund scholarships are enhanced by the AIA Component Matching Scholarship Grant program.
