For the sixth year, AIA Minnesota’s Architecture in the Schools committee will host a booth at this day-long event on opening day of the 2022 Minnesota State Fair. Organized by SciMathMN, AIA Minnesota joins more than 30 other organizations to offer hands-on activities for students and their families as a way to promote architecture as a valuable profession and show how architects utilize science, technology, math and engineering. We will engage thousands of youth and educators during the day, raising awareness about architecture as a profession and the value of the built environment.
The Architecture in the Schools committee has designed cardboard models of four iconic state fair buildings, which visitors can construct onsite or take home with them. We prepare nearly 900 models to give away during the event.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed to help staff the booth on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Shifts are three hours in length between 7:30 am and 5:45 pm and free admission to the fair is included.
