The 2019 Homes by Architects Tour is just around the corner! Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your tour time:

Plan your route—and make sure you don’t miss the faraway gems! This year’s tour has homes around the extended Twin Cities metro area, from Independence to Marine on St. Croix. Don’t feel as though you have to start at Home 1 and make your way in order to Home 13. Start with those that are closest and work your way out, or begin with those further away and work your way back toward home. Figure out what works best for you!

Check the weather forecast. And dress and accessorize accordingly for the most comfortable tour experience. If you’re making it an all-day adventure, consider bringing water and snacks.

Reuse your booties. If you plan to visit more than one home on the Tour, bring along your shoe covers from the first house so you can bypass the crowd waiting to grab a fresh pair at the door. It’s also a great way to save resources and keep future ticket prices low!

Hop on the shuttle and check parking instructions. There are several homes on the 2019 Tour that can have special parking directions (Homes 2, 6, and 10), including one that requires access by shuttle (Home 4). Please review instructions marked in yellow in the program guide or click here for more information, and plan a little extra time for parking and the shuttle ride. Shuttles run continuously to ensure short wait times.

Share your experience on social media. The Homes by Architects Tour is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Follow us to get updates leading up to the Tour and share your thoughts. Tag us and use our hashtag #HBAT19 for a chance to be featured! (Remember to respect the owners’ privacy and not take interior photos during the Tour.)

Your tour program includes a summary of the rules for the tour. Take a moment to review the rules about in-home photography, attending with children, and other details.

Whether you manage to visit all 13 homes, or just peek into a few that pique your interest, we hope you enjoy the tour! Tickets are available online until noon on Friday, September 20. Tickets may also be purchased at any of the tour homes all weekend during the event.
