Role Overview: It is important that the Hotel Project Architect be competent in the detailing and technical documentation of project design and execution of Hotel and Hospitality work at ESG. They will be responsible for collaborating with hotel ownership, brand teams, and chefs and for the coordination of building systems with consultants such as civil, structural and MEP engineers as well as food and beverage (F&B). The Hotel PA will confirm conformance with all applicable building codes and interface with municipal building departments and other governing agencies to coordinate city review and approvals.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide front-end design, site evaluation, fit planning and program development for clients considering the development of a potential hospitality site (conceptual design)
• Absorb, understand and comply with hotel brand standards, requirements and approval processes on hotel projects and assist clients with waivers when applicable
• Develop design, construction documents and specifications for hotel/hospitality projects
• Coordinate with Clients and Consultants, overseeing accurate and timely completion of construction documents
• Interpret design concepts and translate them into workable construction systems; evaluate alternatives to develop cost-effective solutions; maintain quality technical and design control
• Develop construction details and research architectural materials and systems
• Deliver complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation
• Work independently or with design team to complete hotel/hospitality projects with fast-paced schedules
• Research and coordinate materials and products for project specifications
• Implement all local, state and federal applicable building codes, constructability and architectural standards of practice
• Conduct site observations and prepare site inventory documentation
• Participate in all aspects of construction administration related activities (in office and on site)
• Lead and mentor hotel/hospitality production team members

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture
• Licensed Architect preferred
• 10 years of Project Architect experience within the hotel/hospitality architecture and construction field
• Portfolio demonstrating experience in hospitality design with a focus on hotel operations, including an understanding of guest flow, back-of-house planning, and operational efficiencies that support brand standards and elevate the guest experience
• Proven success designing and coordinating food and beverage environments — from casual to upscale concepts — including bars, restaurants, lounges, and grab-and-go spaces
• Experience collaborating with hotel ownership, brand teams, chefs, and various consultants (MEP, lighting design, F&B) to deliver thoughtful, operationally sound, and visually impactful environments
• Knowledge of planning standards, key metrics for efficiency, and operational considerations for a variety of lodging types and service levels
• Strong understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements
• Familiarity with health code requirements, accessibility compliance, kitchen layouts, and front-of-house vs. back-of-house programming in hospitality venues is a plus
• Experience with Type I, III, and V construction types with an emphasis on hotel/hospitality work
• Experience with a variety of software platforms such as the Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, Revit, SketchUp, Bluebeam Revu or other related programs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
