Let the Property Tell Its Story: Historic Preservation Standards with a Case Study and Tour of the Historic Sauk Centre Creamery
Presented by Julia Larson, Historic Properties Reviewer, Minnesota Historical Society and Stephanie Howe, AIA, Studio E Architects

We have so many rules to follow! The Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties can be interpreted as another set of “rules” mostly applied to properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places. But, the Standards do not need to be a burden! While the Standards have core principles, they also have flexibility in treatments. Architects can use the principles of the Secretary of Interior’s Standards to create a sense of place for communities through their connection to the past. Minnesota has many examples of using the Standards to contribute another layer to a modernizing society. Learn more>

This event is free to AIA Minneapolis members. Join us for a fun, interactive, technical explanation of the Secretary’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
