Minnesota and the Greater MSP Region are already a global center for water system technologies and there are multiple organizations and programs that support the use of green infrastructure in projects of all types and sizes. Grey to Green: Twin Cities is a unique opportunity to cross-pollinate regional work on green infrastructure in Minnesota with the cutting edge work being done in Canada and in other U.S. cities.

Minnesota has a special responsibility and unique opportunity to address issues such as water quality, climate change adaptation, workforce development, and urban resiliency with green infrastructure. The Twin Cities are experiencing some of the greatest impacts of climate change, resulting in more flooding and one of the worst Urban Heat Islands in North America. Minnesotans are making more public and private investments to address impaired waters, conscious of our position at the headwaters of the Mississippi River, as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and as one of the U.S. states bordering the Great Lakes shared with Canada.
