AIA Minnesota is pleased to present two new intercultural development programs help members increase their ability to lead successful equity, diversity and inclusion efforts in their firms and to more effectively engage with clients who are demographically or ideologically different.

Foundations of Intercultural Development

$250 per person ($200 discount available for members of the AIA Minnesota and local chapter boards, Women in Architecture committee, EDI Committee, MSP AoA NOMA, and current AIA MN committee and knowledge community co-chairs)

Learn the core concepts of intercultural development and build your ability to engage effectively with colleagues, project partners, clients, and community members of various genders, races, ethnicities, and other “differences that make a difference.” Participants will be introduced to the Intercultural Development Continuum before taking an evaluative assessment to measure their current skills and will received one-on-one guidance on the next steps needed to continue to grow in intercultural competence. The program concludes with an interactive workshop to practice using and building your intercultural skills.

Intercultural Leadership Program: Growing Capacity for Culture Change

$1,600 per person

In this multi-session leadership program, participants will build on their foundational understanding of intercultural development. You will deepen your skills to become a more inclusive collaborator across differences and increase your capacity to be an internal change agent in your firm/workplace, in the profession of architecture, and in the broader building industry.
 
Pairs or triads from the same firm are encouraged to participate. This program is open to those who have completed any of the following sessions offered by AIA Minnesota:
  • “Foundations of Intercultural Development” (see above);
  • one of the “Ethics of Exploring Culture and Identity” workshops* offered at the 2018 and 2019 AIA Minnesota annual conferences and at the 2019 Women’s Leadership Summit; or
  • the first iteration of The Intercultural Leadership Program offered in 2018.

*Those who have completed the Ethics of Exploring Culture and Identity workshop will also be required to complete the IDI Assessment (online evaluative tool) prior to the first session of the Intercultural Leadership Program.

NOTE: Other intercultural development overview sessions offered by a different provider will potentially be accepted, depending on the content and date of the session.
