LHB has an immediate opportunity for a project architect to join our Government Studio, with a future possibility of working in other markets. The base location for this hybrid role can be in Duluth or Minneapolis where a project manager will be present to provide mentorship and oversee your work as you continue to grow in your career. The position, a part of our Integrative Design Team, will offer opportunities to collaborate and coordinate projects with our in-house design and engineering disciplines in support of our goal of being the leader in creating regenerative communities.
The LHB Government Studio pursues opportunities to improve our communities through design. The municipal and state projects that we deliver for clients in the upper Midwest and federal clients across the country include public transit, municipal public works, military reserve/housing, public safety, environmental facilities, administrative offices, libraries, community recreation, and natural resource agencies. The diversity of projects is exciting, the opportunities are reliable, and the clients are experienced. Your technical, design, and graphic skills will contribute to interesting projects while you broaden your professional experience across a diverse spectrum of clients and project types.
Position Summary
The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
• Leading project design teams, including consultants.
• Assist with managing scope, budget, and schedule for multiple projects simultaneously[SP1]
• Facilitating client interactions, including leading user group meetings
• Developing conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents
• Executing applicable code analysis for project scope. Coordinating requirements with team and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Writing specifications (SpecLink experience preferred)
• Performing construction administration duties (e.g., leading OAC meetings, shop drawing review, RFIs, ASIs, PRs, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
• Professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution
• Licensure to practice architecture (and the ability to obtain State of Minnesota licensure)
• 5+ years of architectural experience
• Proficiency in Revit
• Experience with and knowledge of steel framed and precast concrete building systems and technology.
• Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with government and commercial projects
•Experience with sustainable design initiatives, including LEED and B3 or similar standards.
• Experience with programming and predesign services
• Experience with construction administration services
• Exceptional project work reflecting design and graphic presentation skills
