A rainscreen wall consists of an outer and inner wall layer with a cavity between them for passive removal of liquid water and water vapor. Masonry rainscreen wall assemblies have a wide array of components and employ different strategies to manage water, air, vapor, and thermal control. There is a wide range of cladding material options and attachments for rainscreens, including terra cotta, natural/engineered stone, tile, and fiber cement.
