Clarence (“Cap”) Wigington (1883-1967), was the first African American municipal architect in the United States and the first licensed African American architect in Minnesota.

We’d love for you to join us as we celebrate Cap Wigington, current and past Minnesota Architectural Foundation Wigington scholars, and announce a deeply generous matching donation opportunity!

We will share our progress to ‘bridge the gap” as we move closer to reaching our goals of annually supporting students with partial tuition scholarships. Your financial contribution has helped and we believe you have insights on how we successfully continue this campaign as we reach more donors that will further our fundraising goals. Come celebrate your contributions with fellow donors, board members, and scholarship recipients!

Join us for complimentary snacks and beverages to celebrate!

The MAF has received an unexpected and deeply generous commitment from an anonymous donor to provide a $50,000 donation to the Wigington Fund, if fundraising of new dollars from others can match this amount. You can help us reach this goal by:

Created in 1992 as the Minority Architectural Scholarship, this Fund was renamed the Clarence “CAP” Wigington to recognize the extraordinary professional and civic accomplishments of the first African American municipal architect in the United States and the first licensed African American architect in Minnesota. The Wigington Fund supports students of color who have a specific interest in pursuing a professional architecture degree leading toward becoming a registered architect.
