We are a resource and voice for residential architecture, providing support, advocacy, and education. We address unique issues related to custom residential practice by providing an inclusive community for the exchange of ideas and resources. We provide continuing education opportunities for all aspects of residential architecture.
AIA members and architecture students are welcome to join us at any time during the year, as committee members or for specific events! Reach out to co-chairs or staff for more information.
We shape AIA Minnesota's signature public event: the Homes by Architects Tour. Held annually in late September, this two-day weekend event showcases the excellence and variety of work being done by Minnesota's residential architects. Click to learn more.
Our site tours give access and insight through exploration of in-progress projects. Those pursuing licensure may be able to get AXP credit if attending with their licensing supervisor. Our 2026 site tours are supported by an AIA CRAN grant.
A few times a year, we get together in person to connect and build community among architects, designers, and industry partners working in residential architecture.
Previously in partnership with the Minnesota Star Tribune, this program featured 12 homes each year, designed by Minnesota architects. Homes were selected by a jury for exceptional responses to homeowner needs and aspirations.
