Seminar description

The design industry is facing rapid disruption from artificial intelligence (AI), with clients and competitors already adopting it, and startups threatening core services. This trend is expected to exert fee pressure and transform certain types of work and poses many ethical challenges regarding intellectual property and authorship. However, AI also presents a significant opportunity to improve project delivery efficiency, influence design outcomes, and expand services.

This session delves into the critical process of developing a long-term strategy for responding to AI at a design firm. Panelists will discuss essential components, including conducting a competitor and industry scan to understand AI’s potential. They will also explore how to analyze an organization’s AI readiness by assessing technical capabilities, identifying market opportunities, and evaluating vulnerabilities. A key focus will be on consulting with stakeholders across an organization, including leadership, to develop scenarios for AI’s impact and determine appropriate, ethical means of implementation.

Finally, the program will address the crucial step of creating a roadmap to ensure the AI strategy leads to actionable change, aligned with professional obligations, across organizational structure, talent development, and service offerings. Participants will gain valuable insights into building a strategy to leverage AI effectively while mitigating its challenges.
