Through community and experimentation, we are actively creating the desired culture of the profession: one that is authentic, equitable, and collaborative.

This national community of practice — the Community of Practice for Culture Change (CPCC) — is rooted in Minnesota, with participants regularly attending from across the country.

We have different experiences and contexts but a shared purpose: changing the culture of the profession to reflect what AIA members across generations and geographies tells us they aspire toward.

AIA Minnesota’s multi-year Culture Change Initiative research effort is the foundation for the CPCC.

AIA members are welcome to participate in the CPCC if they have reviewed these research findings and are aligned in the pursuit of the desired culture it defines.

Communities of Practice are unique.

They are driven by collective the energy of the group, not by organizational goals or programmatic needs.

Sessions are facilitated by volunteers — in this case, the Core Team — with light support and periodic facilitation from AIA Minnesota staff.

Meetings are held virtually about every other month, based on availability of Core Team members

Systems Thinking for Culture Change

The CPCC operates from a systems thinking perspective. This article in AIA Minnesota’s print annual ENTER describes the Culture Change Initiative research and how systems thinking — specifically, leverage points analysis and complexity theory — relate to culture change.
