EP Friendly Firm Award

A Collaboration of AIA Minnesota, AIA North Dakota, AIA South Dakota, and AIA Wisconsin Emerging Professional Committees

Recognizing firms within our region who provide exceptional support and opportunities for their Emerging Professionals.

Recognition is meant to:

  • Foster dialogue within firms from which new policies and practices may be adopted; and
  • Elevate the level of support for the development of future members of our profession throughout the region.

Awards are valid for a two-year period. After that time, firms can reapply to ensure they meet current criteria.

Eligibility

AIA member architecture firms in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are eligible.

Firms of any size are eligible and evaluated according to their size.

Selection Criteria

The EP Friendly Firm Award provides recognition for architecture firms who meet the following criteria:

  • Provide fair compensation and benefits to Emerging Professionals
  • Support architectural licensure
  • Invest in the professional developments of Emerging Professionals
  • Actively create opportunities for Emerging Professionals to grow
  • Demonstrate commitment and innovation to mentor and coach Emerging Professionals

Process

For the purposes of the application, Emerging Professionals are professionals who have completed their academic studies up until 10 years post-licensure. Full-time EPs, part-time EPs, and student interns should be included in the responses to all application questions.

Architecture firms will be evaluated through the EP Friendly Firm Award criteria and rated based on their size of staff, using the following firm sizes:

  • Small firm (10 & under)
  • Medium firm (11-49)
  • Large firm (50+)
Submission Requirements
  • Applications must be completed jointly by at least one Emerging Professional or Emerging Architect and at least one Principal.
  • The application questions are intended to be the framework and documentation of that conversation.
  • In order to be valid, the application must be signed and completed by an AIA member principal and an AIA emerging professional from the applicant firm.
  • Applications without AIA numbers provided will be returned without consideration.
