This 1920s Spanish Craftsman still had its original charm but lacked functionality.
While the owners loved the historic millwork and ideal location, the main level felt compartmentalized and outdated. This remodel relocated the kitchen to the center of the home, where it connects seamlessly with the dining room. A handcrafted mosaic tile backsplash provides a striking focal point, while a mix of new stained and painted cabinetry echoes the original details and adds modern storage. A new archway complements existing ones, reinforcing a defining architectural element. Reimagined spaces bring fresh utility: the former kitchen now serves as a cozy TV lounge and updated powder room, while the breakfast nook was converted into a light-filled office with a glass pocket door. The entryway was opened up with a built-in bench and handmade terracotta tile. The transformation brings clarity, comfort, and cohesion to the main level, honoring the home’s heritage while supporting the needs of modern living.
